Privacy Notice
How we collect, use and protect your personal information under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
Last updated: 12 May 2026
This Privacy Notice explains how CI4U GB Nationwide Limited, trading as BIS-Nationwide, collects, uses and protects your personal information when you use this website, request a quote, or take out a policy with us.
We are the data controller for the information we collect about you. We are registered in England and Wales (company number 06671640) and authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA reference 496879).
Browsing this website
You can browse the public parts of our website without giving us any personal information. We collect anonymous analytics about how visitors use the site (page views, device type, approximate location) so we can improve it. This does not identify you as an individual.
Information we collect about you
When you contact us for a quotation or arrange cover, we collect the information an insurer needs to assess your risk and calculate a premium. Depending on the product, this may include your name and contact details, business and trading details, claims history, criminal convictions (where relevant to insurance) and payment details.
We collect this information from you directly, through online quote forms, over the telephone, and from any documents you send us.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- provide you with quotations and arrange your insurance cover;
- administer your policy, including claims, mid-term changes and renewals;
- collect premiums and process payments, including instalments through a premium finance provider where you have asked us to;
- verify your identity and run credit and anti-fraud checks where required;
- meet our legal, regulatory and tax obligations;
- contact you about your policy and, with your consent, about other relevant products and services.
Who we share your information with
We may share your information with:
- insurers and other intermediaries authorised by the FCA, in order to obtain quotations and arrange cover;
- premium finance providers, where you have chosen to pay by instalments;
- credit reference and anti-fraud agencies (soft searches before you take out a policy will not affect your credit rating);
- our suppliers and IT providers, who process information on our behalf;
- regulators, law enforcement and other authorities where we are required to by law.
Where information is shared with insurers it may also be added to industry registers (for example, the Claims and Underwriting Exchange) which help insurers prevent and detect fraudulent claims.
How long we keep your information
We will normally keep your information for up to seven years after our relationship with you ends, in line with insurance industry guidance and our regulatory obligations. Some information may be retained for longer where the law requires it.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you have the right to:
- ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information ("the right to be forgotten") — though this may mean we can no longer arrange or service your insurance;
- object to or restrict our use of your information in certain circumstances;
- ask us to transfer your information to another provider where this is technically possible;
- withdraw any consent you have given us at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you are unhappy with how we have handled your information.
